Reese’s Season of Growth, Grit & Ambition

From international training camps to regional success, a promising young swimmer continues to rise

Following an impressive performance at Kent Counties, Reese was given an incredible opportunity to take her training to the next level — a one-week intensive training camp in Tenerife.

The camp offered a demanding schedule of early mornings, long training sessions, and a relentless focus on performance. Despite the intensity, Reese embraced every moment.

“It was tough, but I loved it,” she reflected.

Training alongside international swimmers gave her a valuable insight into how athletes from different countries prepare and perform. The experience not only strengthened her physical abilities but also boosted her confidence and motivation as she continues to develop her competitive edge.

She returned home feeling physically exhausted, but mentally re-energised and inspired for the season ahead.

Building Momentum Through Competition

The opportunities to attend training camps, travel, and compete at high-level meets are playing a crucial role in Reese’s progression.

As the national qualifying window opened on 12th March, Reese competed at the Bath Level 1 Qualifying Meet held at Millfield School.

While she did not secure personal best times on this occasion, her performances were consistent and technically strong — enough to firmly establish her position within the qualifying window.

Her results spoke for themselves:

  • 5 Silver Medals
  • 1 Bronze Medal

All achieved against tough and competitive opposition, making it an extremely positive and rewarding weekend.

A Standout Team Performance

Another major highlight came when Reese had the opportunity to represent her club at the Regional Relays.

Delivering an outstanding split swim, Reese made a meaningful contribution to her team’s performance. The result has left everyone hopeful that the relay team has now secured a place at the upcoming National Championships.

Team competition remains one of Reese’s favourite aspects of the sport.

“There’s something really special about racing as part of a team,” she shared.

Determination Under Pressure

With Regionals approaching, Reese entered a final qualifying meet knowing she still had key targets to achieve.

Her focus and determination were evident.

  • She secured an automatic qualifying time in the 200m Butterfly, alongside a new short course personal best
  • In the 100m Backstroke, she achieved an impressive 3-second personal best, earning herself an additional event qualification

It was a defining moment that showcased not only her talent but her resilience under pressure.

Balancing Sport & Studies

Away from the pool, Reese is also preparing for her GCSEs, adding another layer of commitment to an already demanding schedule.

Late nights, early starts, and constant juggling between training, competition, and revision have become the norm.

Despite the challenge, Reese remains focused, determined to give her best in both her academic and sporting pursuits.

Looking Ahead

As the season progresses, there is growing excitement about what lies ahead.

With the Regional Championships, open water events, and the possibility of National qualification on the horizon, Reese is entering this next phase with confidence and determination.

A Journey Worth Supporting

The support Reese receives continues to play a vital role in enabling opportunities such as training camps, competitions, and development experiences.

Watching her grow — not only as an athlete but as a young person — has been incredibly rewarding for everyone involved.

Her journey is one of dedication, resilience, and belief.

And this is only just the beginning.
