Understanding the Impact on Health & Wellness
Whatever your lifestyle, social role, or professional interests, you simply can’t escape it.
It is everywhere. Moreover, the lack of understanding or utilisation in real life is actually holding many people significantly back. The most common effects are a decline in cognitive performance, information retrieval and source evaluation, sleep quality, self-reliance, and metacognition.
These effects are obvious and well known, but we would like to focus on something even more important – something that is inherently human, yet has been significantly changed in the digital era.

Bioenergy Production
The main known difference between humans and humanoids is our exceptional energy efficiency. The human brain operates on only 12 to 20 watts. In comparison, a standard household lamp uses 40 to 60 watts, while modern supercomputers require enormous amounts of energy.
Any changes in NAD or ATP production (the bioenergy currencies) can lead to significant mental and neurological disorders, including Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease (Hou Y. et al., Trends in Neurosciences (2019); Cunnane et al., Nature Reviews Drug Discovery (2020)).
Many everyday activities associated with digital technology – working on a laptop, constantly looking at a phone, driving vehicles, relying on AI for making basic decisions without conscious understanding, and spending more time in our own heads than interacting with people – may influence these biological processes.

Due to the changes digital tools have brought to our lives, the way people consume products has significantly changed. Some of these changes are also the result of the accumulation of industrial pollutants and by-products of human activity in the soil, air, and water.
The amount of toxic metals found in tap water is concerning. The number of pesticides used in fruit production continues to grow, while microplastics have become widespread throughout the food chain. The consequences are partly known, but still under investigation.
What we currently know is microbiome has significantly declined over time and our body’s abilities to self-clean and digest declined as well. Communication / Body Sensations / Environment
The way we communicate and interact with our environment has changed dramatically. Even the smells surrounding us have changed, influenced by air pollution, industrial environments, and the constant operation of digital devices.
Our bodies adapt to these changing environments. In many ways, these adaptations may shift us toward increasingly “humanoid” patterns of behavior, leaving us in a more persistent state of stress, distraction, and confusion.
