Taking Our Cue From Mother Earth

This article has been inspired by a story shared with me about someone who has been going through a very difficult and traumatic time over the past few years. She feels as if everything is falling apart on many levels. The life she once knew has been turned upside down by physical and health challenges, traumatic personal experiences, and further exacerbated by the intense energy in the collective.

Her main solace comes from nature, as she has a deep connection to the natural world, plants, trees, animals and the cycles of the seasons. I too relate to this profound affinity with Mother Earth and the signs that are continually being offered to us if we choose to pay attention.

A Sign from Nature

On a recent walk, she came across a makeshift hut on a quiet beach. Inside, in this dark space, she noticed approximately ten to fifteen chrysalises spread around every corner above her head. She had never seen anything like it before.

This moment gave me goosebumps as I listened to her story. It felt like a sign that the challenging time she is experiencing is a period of profound transformation. Nature offers us guidance if we are willing to observe it. This sight provided a glimmer of hope, suggesting that this phase is one of growth, a phase she can trust is necessary, no matter how challenging, in awakening to higher spiritual truth and consciousness.

The Process of Rebirth

The process of growth is not an easy one. It takes time and patience to allow it to unfold. It cannot be sidestepped if we are to embrace deeper transformation.

We need to sit in the darkness, alongside discomfort, and release the old parts of ourselves that no longer serve us. It is a dying of the ego, of old identities and patterns, and of shadow aspects we have hidden that held us prisoner. This process can bring up resistance, as change challenges our ego, which desires control and a sense of safety. However, resisting only prolongs discomfort. Swimming against the tide can be counterproductive. The key is to embrace the flow and not force the process.

Embracing Feminine Flow

We can take our cue from nature in this process. Like the caterpillar that remains in darkness and stillness, trusting it will emerge as a beautiful butterfly, we too need to trust the process. Entering a more feminine, surrendered state allows us to move through transformation with ease and grace.

Many of us have struggled with this, having been programmed to live in fear, believing life’s challenges are a form of punishment. Instead, we need to trust that the Universe and Mother Earth always have our back.

This feminine state honours the cyclical nature of life: birth, death, and rebirth or renewal. This natural rhythm, mirrored in nature, is a state of being from which many have become disconnected due to the suppression and dishonouring of the feminine.

The Importance of Receptivity

Throughout the rebirth process, it is essential to be in a state of receptivity. Many of us have not allowed ourselves to fill our own cups, living instead in cycles of over-giving. This prevents us from creating space to release, renew, and be restored on a deep level.

It is about feeling worthy of nurturing ourselves and embracing the pause without judgment. Stepping off the hamster wheel temporarily is not indulgence, it is necessary for profound transformation.

Grounding Through Sacred Practices

As a Womb Awakening Facilitator and Womb Medicine practitioner, I have witnessed how the deeper we go, particularly into the shamanic space of our Sacred Wombs or Haras, the more we can ground ourselves and trust that we are deeply held by Mother Gaia and the forces of creation.

Through this process, we become more comfortable with simply “being,” allowing us to tune into the wisdom of our bodies. We learn what needs to be released and what steps to take to rebirth into an upgraded version of ourselves gracefully.

This practice is also a powerful way to address feminine and masculine distortions and wounds that may lie at the root of shadow layers. Taking the time to address these honestly and maturely allows us to move through the process of rebirth with greater ease. It is a gateway to wholeness within.
