Your Inner Source of Guidance & Happiness
When we have a decision to make, most of us are programmed to look outwards for the answer. We speak to friends, search online or ask someone we trust what they think we should do. Receiving support can be incredibly valuable but even the most loving advice is shaped by another person’s experiences, beliefs and fears. They may know us well but they cannot fully understand our situation from the inside.
There is another place we can go where guidance is personal and empowering and that is to look inward.
What Is Intuition?
Intuition is the quiet inner knowing that exists beneath the noise of everyday thoughts. It is connected to our Higher Self, an aspect of your Soul. It is ancient, wise and often much easier to communicate with than we expect.
Unlike external advice, intuition is not filtered through somebody else’s lived experience. It understands how a situation is affecting you personally but it can also offer a wider perspective on why a situation may be unfolding. This does not mean we should never seek another person’s support. It simply reminds us that their guidance is one perspective rather than an unquestionable truth.

Try This Simple Breath Practice
Begin by sitting comfortably and choosing one clear question. Take a slow, deep breath in while silently asking that question. Gently hold your breath at the top for a moment and open all your senses. Without straining to receive an answer, exhale slowly and notice what arises.
Once you have asked your question, pay particular attention to what happens next. The first subtle impression is often the answer, before the logical mind has time to question, dismiss or reshape it.
Intuition communicates differently with everyone because we each have senses through which we naturally receive information more easily. Messages might come as a word, thought, colour, image, sound, physical sensation, memory or sudden ‘aha’ moment. You might even find yourself drawn to something in your surroundings that feels symbolic.
More Than an Answer
As your connection strengthens, you can move beyond asking, ‘What should I do?’ You might ask why a situation is happening, what it is helping you to understand or what another person’s perspective might be. You can request guidance about the next step to take or what needs to change for resolution to become possible.
These insights are uniquely empowering and are the reasons why intuition can become a genuine source of happiness. It helps us feel supported, clearer and more confident in our decisions. In a world filled with conflicting opinions, misinformation and uncertainty, knowing what to trust can feel increasingly difficult. Yet there is one source of guidance that remains deeply personal to you, your intuition and when you learn to listen to it you will see that the confidence you thought was lacking was there all along!
