There are many things we hope to do in the future.

Some are easy to accomplish, others not as much.

We are always looking for more: higher, better, bolder.

There is no end to our mundane wishes.

Because we only have this life to live, right?

Regardless of what you believe, you do know that the time to act is now, because the future is uncertain.

At any time, things can change, and life doesn’t always present us with pleasant changes.

From time to time, we feel the urge to move faster.

It’s like we know that the time is right for things to happen.

Some other times, our pace is slow, even halted by distractions, activities or demands from our busy lives.

Time will tell if we will be able to reach our dreams, achieve our goals and fulfil our desires, or if they will have to wait for another life (if there is one).

We have probably had enough of self-help techniques and instructions to move forward with what we really wish to do with our lives.

We might even have hired a coach, or joined a group whose aim was to encourage one another to overcome laziness, procrastination or obstacles.

We might even have had therapy to overcome hidden blocks and negative beliefs that we felt were holding us back.

But have we tried to really look inside, first to know ourselves enough to be able to know what really moves the needle, second to get in touch with our true essence, our qualities, our strengths and gifts we have been hiding from the world?

This is what really matters: “know thyself”, know exactly what treasures you keep inside of you.

If you don’t uncover them, you will look and feel “adjusted”, “normal”, blended into the crowd.

But if you dare to dig deeper, to uncover more of what you feel, wish or know deep down, then you can prepare yourself for a wild ride, but a truly rewarding one.

Don’t hide your light from the world, but above all, don’t hide it from yourself.

Forcing yourself to blend, to settle for a bland, monotonous life, will bear the same fruit.

But if you decide to uncover your hidden gems, values and beliefs, and spend time knowing and celebrating your true self, you are in for a win.

Therefore, go inwards.

For a moment, disconnect from your busy life and schedule and simply tune into yourself: your emotions, your desires, your dreams.

Get in touch with what is already there.

And avoid the “should have”, “would have”, “could have”.

It’s not about doing right now; it’s about being, experiencing life through another lens, your inner compass.

In time, more of you will unravel from the depths of your being, and you will start to clearly see who you are, without external forces constraining you to comply with a generalised social norm.

You see… we don’t know who we really are.

We imitate and perpetuate rules, behaviours and standards handed down so long ago that we don’t even think about them.

We simply accept that this is who we are.

Is that so? Then why are children so boundless, so unlimited, so unconstrained?

Just watch them and see how you would compare if you were their age with all your inherited or learned behaviours.

Children are truly masters in the sense that they show us where the spark is, where the dream is, where the creativity is.

Learn from their example, and allow yourself to loosen the grip that you have slipped into since an early age.

Probably you are thinking that you will have to leave your comfort zone and become someone different, but it’s exactly the opposite.

You are now someone different from the essence you carry inside.

And there is no comfort in being someone else.

Imagine the joy of being truly yourself.

The happiness of expressing yourself and your abilities without fear or concern, just like a child would do.

Give more of yourself to the world, and you won’t regret it.

Your life will be richer, fuller and much happier than ever before.

Time will tell.
