Life feels more fulfilling when we have purpose. That is clear. This could appear as anything from an ambitious project out of your comfort zone to making sure the people around you are feeling loved and secure. If you don´t have that drive in your life already – the reason to leap up in the mornings – let us explore how and where you can find it.

We aren´t all lucky enough to work in a field we are passionate about, where we are valued for our skills, or an environment where we get a lot out of connection with others, or get to see our creativity come to life…. These things can boost our confidence, allow us to feel worthwhile and leave us with a deep sense of satisfaction at the end of each day. If you don´t yet have that, then recognise that you have work to do. It´s not that those things are out of your reach. They just require your attention.
Take some long, slow, deep breaths to get in the zone and ask yourself the following questions one by one. Then wait, and see what answer pops up!
What area of my life feels like it could be improved upon?
What action could I take today to lead me closer to who I really am?
What is a thing I want to do, but that I still haven´t tried?
What do I regret?
What dream has felt out of reach and why?
Are self-sabotage and/or imposter syndrome holding me back?
What are my strengths / challenges / values?
How could I improve the lives of the people I care most about? Myself included!
An interesting way to look at your life in distinct sections is by using The Wheel of Life.
Draw a pie chart to give you an overview of your life. Divide it into sections – Work / Leisure & Hobbies / Friends / Relationship and/or Family / Chores / Health / Finances – or whatever seems most relevant to you. Draw a line across each segment to mark how fulfilled you are with each topic. The lowest point being 1 (totally lacking) would be near the centre of your chart and the widest near the circle edge being a 10 (totally fulfilled).

In this way you can clearly see, by the haphazard edge to the wheel you draw, which areas of your life are in need of a boost. Then you know where to start!
Tony Robbins talks about a concept called CANI – Consistent and Never-Ending Improvement. This comes from a Japanese philosophy called Kaizen which focuses on making small incremental improvement daily for massive long-term results.
It may be that drastic change is not required. It may be that evaluating how you go about things could be the initial focus. Consider taking things seriously that until now you have done on auto-pilot. Do your very best, look for ways to enhance your productivity or connect with others on a deeper level or learn new skills – and notice how much more you get out of action that is considered and chosen. Get noticed. Be known as the person who makes things happen.
Adding in random acts of kindness and choosing to laugh and smile more could let you view the world in a new way, as well as changing how people perceive you. These things can all make for significant change in your story over time.

Perhaps the same life can be greatly improved just by how you look at it. And if low self-esteem is the hurdle, engage in affirmations or getting support to increase it.
Daily gratitude – when you brush your teeth for example – could let you see what you already have, but in a brighter light. Don´t be like Scrooge and wait until the ghosts appear to understand that you could do more, learn more, give more, love more.
Visualise how your life will look in 3 months, 1 year or more if you make these purposeful, impactful alternations day by day and what they could amount to. Then flick to what it would look like if you don´t. Feel the frustration! Let your system flood with the desire to alter your reality.
If, on inspection, you believe that a significant change is required, don't shy away from contemplating it. Be prepared to think outside of the box. Review your mindset, and notice where it trips you up. Reinforce the belief that we, as humans, need not be stuck, we have the power to change – and work on an action plan to take conscious steps to move ever-closer to your dreams.
A great way to get an overview is by looking at the Japanese concept of ikigai, which is a lifestyle that strives to balance the spiritual with the practical – noticing where your passions and talents converge – and what you can also get paid for. It may help you to see the right way forward.

It may be time to go for that side-hussle that you have been pushing aside and exchanging for Netflix. Or become a warmer, deliberately more present parent to your kids? Or drop a bad habit to give that time to something much more worthy.
Become a person who will not feel they could have / should have… Someone who will be proud on their deathbed of how they lived their life.
As a mindset life coach I can support you on a journey to edit your story. Together we can work on where you are stuck, what beliefs and thought patterns are holding you back, discover what is missing. How would it feel to get greater satisfaction by honouring your strengths and values to give you a life of fulfilment and purpose?
